William Lewis Carpenter, 75, passed away on Sept. 5, 2018. William "Bill" was born in Kannapolis, NC, to the late Richard and Mary (Harris) Carpenter and lived in the Akron area most of his life. He graduated from Garfield High School, class of 1961; served in the US Army during the Vietnam War; and is owner/operator of the Windsor Pub since 1979. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jean George; brothers, George and Donald Carpenter. He is survived by wife, Cheryl of 44 years; daughter, Dawn (James Humphreys) Carpenter; son, Richard Carpenter; grandchildren, Emily, Abby, Dylan and Brayden; sisters-in-law, Jill and Tonya Carpenter; and many other loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral Service will be Monday, 7:00 pm at H B Moore Funeral Home, 936 North Main Street, Akron, OH 44310 (corner of N. Main St. and Mildred Ave.) with military rites conducted by Firestone VFW Post 3383. Visitation will be Monday from 3 to 7 pm at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to The Ronald McDonald House 141 W. State St., Akron, OH 44302 in Bill's name.
