William Lee Mallett, 93, of Akron, passed quietly at home under hospice care on November 9, 2023 surrounded by family. Survived by his children Becky (Wayne) Cassidy, Linda (David) Godfrey, Gail (Joe) Calvaruso and Mark (Polly). Grandchildren Kelly (Mike) Sisco, Katie (Aaron Farmer) Cassidy, Ben (Jamie) Cassidy, Niki (Joey Snowden) Calvaruso, Laura Calvaruso, Aly Calvaruso, Josh Mallett and Mary (Bret Edwards) Mallett; great-grandsons Robert and Ryan Sisco, Wesley, Anson and Declan Cassidy, and Will
and Alex Snowden; and sisters, Nancy Hefner and Barbara (Bill) Dowell. Predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Bonnie Belle (Chapman); parents, Russell Clyde and Ethel Mallett; brother, Gene Mallett; son, Craig Alan; and grandson, Robert Cassidy.
Bill served in the Navy and worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, retiring in 1980. He and Bonnie were founding members of Faith Presbyterian Church of America. An outstanding high school athlete, Bill was inducted into the Swede Olssen/James R. France Athletic Hall of Fame at Manchester High School in 1975.
The family had a private service for Bill, arranged by Bacher-Moore Funeral Home. He was interred in Manchester Cemetery.
